Arcana — Terms of Service
Effective date: August 27, 2026 · Last updated: August 27, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Quixotical, LLC ("we", "us"), the publisher of Arcana, a mixed-reality astrology, tarot and contemplative-practice application for Meta Quest headsets. By installing or using Arcana you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains what information Arcana handles. If you do not agree, do not use Arcana.
2. What Arcana is — and is not
Arcana offers astrological charts, tarot readings, guided rituals, journaling and related contemplative experiences. Its readings and rituals are offered for reflection, contemplation and entertainment.
Arcana does not predict the future and does not give advice. Nothing Arcana presents — spoken, written, or drawn — is medical, psychological, legal, financial or other professional advice, a diagnosis, a treatment, or a prediction you should rely on when making decisions. Do not use Arcana as a substitute for the judgment of a qualified professional.
If you are experiencing a mental-health crisis or an emergency, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional. Arcana is not a crisis resource.
Some of Arcana's content is generated by artificial-intelligence services at the moment you request it. Generated content can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. It is provided as-is, for the purposes described above.
3. Who may use Arcana
- You must meet the minimum age required by Meta for your account and region, and in any case be at least 13 years old. Arcana is not directed to children.
- Real-money purchases in Arcana are available only to accounts Meta identifies as adult accounts.
4. Physical safety
Arcana is a mixed-reality experience: it overlays digital content on your real surroundings, and some of its rituals invite you to stand, turn, reach, and move through your room.
- Before a movement-based ritual, clear the space around you of obstacles, people and pets.
- Stay aware of your real environment, respect your headset's boundary system, and take breaks.
- Follow Meta's health and safety guidelines for your headset, including its warnings about photosensitive seizures.
- You choose when and how to move. To the extent permitted by law, you accept the ordinary risks of moving through your own physical space while wearing a headset.
Nothing in this section or these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
5. Purchases, subscriptions and virtual items
- All payments run through Meta. Prices are shown in Meta's checkout, and billing, payment methods and refunds are governed by Meta's store policies and your agreement with Meta. We never see or store your payment details.
- Your purchase of Arcana includes the features described on its store page, including the daily written reading and a stated number of included voice readings.
- Reading packs are consumable purchases. Each pack adds its readings to your balance immediately; one reading is used when a voice session begins, and a session that fails to start is returned to you.
- Subscription. Where offered, Arcana's optional subscription (currently offered as "The Boundless Sky") unlocks voice readings each day for as long as it is active. It renews automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time through your Meta account settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. A daily fair-use ceiling applies — currently ten voice readings per day, far more than a daily practice uses. We may adjust it, and will note changes here.
- Virtual items are a licence, not property. Readings, in-app currency earned through practice ("Pentacoins"), and other virtual items have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged outside Arcana, and are licensed to you for use within Arcana. Pentacoins are earned through practice; we do not sell them for real money.
- Withdrawal rights. If you are in a region with a statutory right of withdrawal for digital content, Meta's checkout is where that right is handled: for immediately delivered digital content it will ask for your consent to immediate delivery, which is how the withdrawal right for delivered content is waived. Subscriptions are handled under Meta's subscription and refund policies for your region.
- We may adjust features, pricing and virtual items over time. While Arcana remains available, we will not remove content you have purchased without a reasonable substitute or as required by law.
6. Your content
- Arcana processes things you provide — your birth details, spoken questions, intentions, journal entries, and (optionally) a photo of your face — to deliver its features, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- You grant us the limited licence needed to process that content through the service providers named in the Privacy Policy, solely to provide Arcana's features to you. This licence ends for a given item when you delete it or ask us to.
- You may only upload a photo of yourself. Do not upload a photo of another person without their consent.
- You must be entitled to the content you provide, and you may not use Arcana for unlawful purposes or to generate unlawful content.
- Imagery generated from your inputs is yours to keep and share for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- If your breach of this section, or your unlawful use of Arcana, causes a claim against us by someone else, you agree to cover the losses that claim causes us.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not copy, resell, or redistribute Arcana or its content.
- Do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with Arcana or its services, or attempt to circumvent its purchase, entitlement, or safety mechanisms.
- Do not use Arcana's AI as a general-purpose service, attempt to extract its prompts or credentials, or deliberately push it to produce harmful or unlawful content. (Talking with the crystal ball about your day, your questions and your life is what it is for — that is never a breach.)
8. Intellectual property
Arcana — its software, artwork, rituals, writing, and design — belongs to Quixotical, LLC and its licensors. These Terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Arcana on your device. All rights not granted are reserved.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Arcana is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Arcana will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that generated content will be accurate or appropriate for your situation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quixotical, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Arcana. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Arcana is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid for Arcana and its in-app purchases through the Meta platform in the twelve months before the claim arose, and (b) fifty US dollars.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits; where the law does not allow them, they apply only to the fullest extent the law permits, and nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
10. Ending the service, and these Terms
You can stop using Arcana at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or for unlawful use.
If we ever discontinue Arcana, we will give reasonable advance notice, stop selling reading packs during the notice period, and — for purchased readings you have not yet used — honor them until the shutdown date or address them through Meta's refund process.
Sections 6, 8, 9 and 11 survive termination.
11. General
- Meta is not a party to these Terms. These Terms are between you and Quixotical, LLC only. Meta is not responsible for Arcana, and your use of the Meta platform, store and checkout is governed by your agreements with Meta.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Quixotical, LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your place of residence applies instead.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable part applies to the greatest extent the law allows.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Arcana.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business, with notice to you.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a part of these Terms, that is not a waiver of it.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Arcana evolves. We will post changes here and update the "Last updated" date; material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Arcana after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
